Our purpose at Terrys Bait is to provide our fishermen with premium quality fresh frozen baitfish and tackle to land that fish of a life time.

Terrys Bait, previously known as Terrys Bait & Seafood, was established in 1987 by Mr Terry Benge. Terry identified an opportunity to provide our local fishermen with the best quality baitfish when the fish were on our door step. To date this doctrine is still very much i ngrained in all our staff. All local baits are hand picked “by fishermen for fishermen” and processed accordingly to ensure our products present naturally on the hook. Our bait and tackle are distributed throughout South East Queensland in all quality bait and tackle retailers.

Helping you catch more fish !

One of our main goals at Terrys is to increase the sport of fishing and to pass the knowledge we have gained over the years on to as many fishermen as possible. Since inception in 1987 we at Terrys have amassed a wealth of local knowledge which is readily available in the "Fishing Tips" section of this website. A ton of general information is located there, information like how to “read a surf gutter” etc. Specific questions may be submitted to the Terrys staff through the "Contact Us" page. The Terrys team will do its best to provide quick and, hopefully, useful responses. This entire website is designed & dedicated to helping anglers catch more fish!

Biodegradable Bait Bags

Terrys Bait is the first company to pack and sell bait in Australia’s first 100 per cent biodegradable bags under the Markwells Bait brand. Our company supports sustainable practice and believes the biodegradable option is a terrific step to ensure our waterways and their inhabitants are not subjected to irresponsible acts. Environment Minister Dean Wells officially launched the bags on the Gold Coast in June 2004, saying the bags would “drastically cut the pollution levels on its [ Queensland] beaches and waterways”.

The Terrys staff has been field testing our products for years, proving, time and time again, the fish catching potential of each product before it is offered to fishermen. “ ... I caught this longtail on a resent trip to Weipa. The reel was Inspira 30 loaded with 15lb Tuff line braid and a Silstar rod. We also took two Epix40’s up with us on heavy spin rods with 20lb Tuff Line on them and caught heaps of longtails, queenfish, wolf herring, trevally etc.... The Epix’s and the Inspira were all excellent. I’m going back next year and I’m taking more Okuma’s with me.

The Terrys Bait wholesale sales and distribution facility is located at Murarrie in Brisbane. We offer free delivery within the metropolitan area 5 days a week. A complimentary service for the Stimulate Baits and Berlys plus VMC hooks can be incorporated into this FIS service.
